Viera FL has become one of the biggest hot spots for new home construction. This area is booming with new commercial properties as well has new homes for sale. With all the families building a new custom home in the Viera and Suntree Florida area, or looking at existing new homes for sale in Melbourne FL, finding something to do on the weekends is key. While the new construction continues in Viera FL, the Brevard Zoo has been established here in Melbourne FL since 1995.
The Brevard Zoo has expanded quite a bit over the recent years. Right now is the perfect time to enjoy the Florida Spring weather and tour the zoo. I was just there last weekend and the weather could not have been more perfect. From the start of the morning the Brevard Zoo opened, it was packed with families from all over the Brevard County areas. Since the Brevard Zoo is conveniently located right off of Interstate I95 in Melbourne FL, this makes the zoo an easy travel for anybody in the Brevard County surrounding areas looking to build a new home in Melbourne FL, Viera FL, Suntree FL, Rockledge FL, Merritt Island FL, Palm Bay FL,Malabar FL and Titusville FL.
Besides just strolling through the Brevard Zoo to look at the animals, there are many hands on activities that you can enjoy with your family. My favorite is going the Giraffe exhibit and feeding them a cracker. While the Giraffes are not always cooperative by coming close enough, when they decide they want to eat your cracker it is an amazing experience. Not to mention there are two new baby Giraffes to see that were born only about a month ago!
My second favorite is the bird aviary. This aviary is filled with different kinds of birds that are allowed to fly freely while you pass through this exhibit. You have the option to purchase seed sticks or nectar to actually feed the birds. Most kids find this pretty entertaining and might even have a bird or two land on their shoulders!
Another special exhibit the zoo only has going on for a limited time is the 2013 Art of Sand Wild Florida. Originally held last year at the Space Coast Stadium in Viera FL, this exhibit features an amazing 13 sand sculptures with the theme of Wild Florida: Past, Present, and future. There is an additional fee for this exhibit, but well worth it as it has educational information, activities for the children and the opportunity to meet with some of the master sculptors.
With warm Florida summers, the zoo can also be a place to cool off for the kids. The Brevard Zoo has the Indian River Lagoon to splash around in and is located next to the zoo’s brand new 20,000 gallon aquarium featuring animals that are found in the Indian River Lagoon. The Lagoon is located in the Paws on Play exhibit which also has a petting zoo, Wildlife Detective Training Academy, play area, and much more.
Not only is the zoo a fun place to spend the day with the family, it is also educational. There is nothing better than to have fun learning! You can also become an annual donor of the Zoo and help save animals around the word! As a non-profit, charitable organization the zoo relies on the community support to make their work possible. With Stanley Homes and all the new home builders in the Viera FL area surrounding the zoo having increased new home sales, hopefully these new families will show their support to the Brevard Zoo. In most of the surrounding areas the zoo is as close as a 5 minute drive and further parts of Brevard County are still within only about a 20 minute trip!
